The Tamil Nadu State government provides the facility of emergency treatment for road accident victims. The government launched the scheme in December 2025. Till now, many citizens of Tamil Nadu have availed the benefit of free hospital treatment. The full name of the scheme is ” Innuyir Kappom Nammai Kakkum 48″. The government cover the major surgeries and general surgeries for the road accident victims. All the victims of the road accident can avail the benefit of the scheme in any Hospital in Tamil Nadu, and they have no need to provide any kind of identification or health insurance card to get the free treatment.

More than 600 hospitals are listed under the scheme all over the Tamil Nadu state, of which 204 are government hospitals and 405 are private hospitals. The people who are not eligible for the Chief Minister’s Comprehensive Health Insurance Scheme can avail themselves of the benefit of the scheme. The Tamil Nadu Government introduced the scheme in collaboration with the Department of Highways and Transport.

The Tamil Nadu Government provide upto Rs 2 lakh treatment for the road accident victims. The government provide the facility only for the first 48 hours of the accident. This includes all the minor and major surgeries and other treatments. Initially, the Government provided only one lakh free treatments for the injured person, but now the government has increased the amount to rupees 2 lakh for the beneficiaries of ” Innuyir Kappom Nammai Kakkum 48″.
Eligibility For Road Accident Victims
- The government provide free treatment only for the road accident victims.
- All the road accident victims, regardless of their Street or place of origin, are eligible for the scheme.
- Those who are not eligible for CMCHIS will be covered under the scheme.
- This is a life-saving scheme inaugurated by the chief minister of Tamil Nadu.

The state government cover a total of 640 hospitals under the scheme. The 422 private hospitals and 218 government hospitals are approved for the accident victim. The government also provide the facility of transportation for the road accident victims from the site of the accident.
